Kochi/Fort Cochin: A Blend of Ancient Soul and Modern Rhythm

“Kochi is not just a city; it is an emotion. As a guide, I have seen this city grow from a historical port to a bustling metro hub without losing its charm.
The History & Culture: Walking through Fort Kochi is like reading a history book. The Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences are still alive in the architecture of the St. Francis Church and the Dutch Palace. The life here is a beautiful mix of different cultures—you can see the Jewish Synagogue in Mattancherry and just a few steps away, the busy spice markets where the air is thick with the scent of ginger and cardamom.”One of the most thrilling experiences in Kochi is the sight of massive international ships and luxury cruises passing incredibly close to the shore. As a guide, I always take my guests to the Fort Kochi beach where you can literally feel the size of these giant vessels as they enter the harbor. It’s a sight that connects our land to the rest of the world and is something every traveler should witness.”
Sightseeing Highlights: * Chinese Fishing Nets: A golden sunset view you can’t miss.
Marine Drive: For a peaceful walk along the backwaters.
Lulu Mall: To experience the modern face and the growth of Kochi.
Nightlife & Modern Vibe: As the sun sets, Kochi transforms. The nightlife here is vibrant, especially in areas like Kakkanad and Panampilly Nagar, where trendy cafes and music fill the streets. From traditional Kathakali performances to late-night food spots serving the famous ‘Kochi Porotta ,Sea Food etc… the city’s lifestyle is a perfect balance of tradition and modernity. It is this unique spirit that makes everyone fall in love with Kochi.”

Athirappilly: The Majestic Niagara of India

“The sound of roaring water and the misty air tell you that you are near Athirappilly. Located in the Thrissur district, this is the largest waterfall in Kerala and is often called the ‘Niagara of India’.
The Magnificence of the Falls: Standing at a height of about 80 feet, the water plunges down into the Chalakudy River with incredible force. The view from the top is breathtaking, but the real magic happens when you walk down the forest path to the base of the falls.
Cinema’s Favorite Location: If the view looks familiar, it’s because this spot is a favorite for filmmakers! Huge hits like Baahubali, Raavan, and many Mani Ratnam movies were shot right here, capturing the raw beauty of these falls.
Nature and Wildlife: Surrounding the falls is a lush, dense forest that is home to several endangered species, including the Great Indian Hornbill. As you drive through the winding forest roads, you are truly in the lap of nature.
Visitor Information:
Entrance Fee: Approximately ₹50 for adults (Note: Rates may vary for foreigners and camera usage).
Best Time to Visit: Right after the monsoon (September to January) when the water is in full flow.
Experience: Be prepared for a small trek through the forest to reach the bottom of the falls for that iconic photo”.

The road is blessed with winding turns and scenic stops like the Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls, which offer a refreshing break amidst the lush greenery.

Munnar has a rich colonial history. It was once the favored summer resort of the British government in South India. The vast tea plantations were established by the British, and you can still see the charming old-world bungalows and structures that tell the story of a bygone era.
Climate & Chills
Munnar is famous for its pleasant weather year-round.

Thekkady: Into the Wild Heart of Kerala

A Glimpse of History & The Tamil Nadu Connection
Thekkady is famous for the Periyar National Park, which was once a hunting ground for the Travancore kings. Interestingly, the Periyar Lake was formed by the construction of the Mullaperiyar Dam in 1895. This region shares a close bond with the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu, as the dam provides water to the fertile lands of our neighboring state, making Thekkady a unique cultural melting pot.
Periyar Tiger Reserve (കടുവസങ്കേതം)
This is the pride of Thekkady! Spread over 925 sq. km, it is one of India’s most significant tiger reserves. The best way to experience this is the boat safari on the lake, where you can often spot herds of wild elephants, sambar deer, and if you are lucky, the majestic Bengal Tiger coming down to the water’s edge.
Traditional Arts: Kathakali & Kalaripayattu
Thekkady is not just about forests; it’s a hub for Kerala’s traditional arts.
Kathakali: Witness the elaborate costumes and powerful expressions of this classical dance-drama that tells ancient stories.
Kalaripayattu: Be mesmerized by the incredible agility and sword-fighting skills of performers in this ancient martial art, considered the mother of all martial arts.
Elephant Safari & Spice Plantations
No trip to Thekkady is complete without an Elephant Safari. Walking through the lush spice plantations on the back of an elephant is an experience that connects you deeply with nature. You can also take a guided tour to see how cardamom, pepper, and cinnamon are grown.

Alleppey: The Venice of the East

The Lifeline of Backwaters & Livelihood
Alleppey (Alappuzha) is a land of canals, backwaters, and vast paddy fields. The lifestyle here is deeply connected to the water. Fishing and coir (coconut fiber) trade have been the primary occupations for generations, making it a historic hub for commerce in Kerala.
Houseboats & Shikara Rides
A visit to Alleppey is incomplete without a stay in a Houseboat (Kettuvallam). Floating along the Vembanad Lake, you get a front-row seat to the serene beauty of rural Kerala. For those who wish to explore the narrower, hidden canals where houseboats cannot reach, a Shikara Boat ride offers a more intimate and peaceful experience of the village life.
Nehru Trophy Boat Race (വള്ളം കളി)
The spirit of Alleppey is best seen during the world-famous Nehru Trophy Boat Race. Witnessing the majestic snake boats (Chundan Vallams) slicing through the waters to the rhythmic songs (Vanchippattu) of hundreds of oarsmen is a sight that will leave you breathless.
Paddy Fields & Scenic Points
Unique to Alleppey is Kuttanad, known as the ‘Rice Bowl of Kerala’. It is one of the few places in the world where farming is done below sea level. The endless green paddy fields contrasted with the blue backwaters create a stunning landscape for every traveler.
Top Attractions:
Alappuzha Beach: Famous for its historic pier and beautiful sunsets.
Pathiramanal Island: A paradise for birdwatchers in the middle of the backwaters.
Marari Beach: For those seeking a quiet, pristine beach experience.
